The Pansy Books Alphabetical List (pdf) | Chronological List (pdf)
"Pansy" was a very busy woman!
In addition to being a mother, a pastor's wife, a mentor, and a member of a dynamic and close-knit extended family, she was a prolific author. Her books have been printed in numerous editions all over the world.
She took many of her characters from her real-life experiences.
While her books are often referred to as children's literature, they are powerful examples of how a life should be lived for Christ. From her very first book, Helen Lester, to her last, Memories of Yesterdays, her purpose was to win others to Christ. The writing contest that began her career as a published author set her life's work for the Saviour in motion.
Her heart and soul are in her writing.
She inspired not only her readers, but also her niece, Grace Livingston Hill who went on to write over 100 of her own books, and her son, Raymond who became Professor of Literature at Stanford University. His children's book "Why the Chimes Rang" has been in print for the better part of a century itself. Raymond's English literature commentaries have been used as college textbooks for years, and he was considered one of the foremost Shakespearian experts of his time.
Pansy edited her own magazine, "The Pansy" for over 20 years, was a regular columnist for the "Christian Endeavor World," and many other publications, lectured on the Chautauqua circuit, and still managed to write or edit nearly 200 books in her lifetime!! It's said that she also answered every letter that her readers sent her. She did all this despite severe headaches and health problems that often kept her from working for more than half a day at a time.
This site has what I believe to be the most complete list to date of Pansy's published books. Many thanks to those readers from all over the world who have helped to continually update the list. If you know of a Pansy book that is not on the list, please email us!
